COMPETITION NEWS

Fantastic result for Kevanne taking Silver in Epee in the Hitchin Open last weekend.

Well done Kevanne!!!!!

Hitchin Fencing Club & SAFC regular Ben Shepherd took Gold in the Foil, pictured here with SAFC’s Daniel Ross who took Silver in the U16 Foil AND ALSO Bronze in the Senior comp at Hitchin.  Superb results, Daniel!!!!

Richard R just lost out on a medal, finishing 4th in Epee, and Dave C-H & Lisa placed 5th & 6th respectively in the Foil.

Also well done to Jeremy Baker (far right of pic) who took Silver in Epee in the London Regional, only narrowly missing Gold by one point in the final.  Congratulations Jeremy!

Also GOOD LUCK to Lisa, Jeremy & Sir John of Brox. who compete in the British Veterans Fencing Championship in Manchester this weekend.

REMINDER ABOUT KIT

Fencing is a very safe sport on the whole but one of the biggest dangers that remains is when a blade breaks mid-bout.  Although this is rare, it does happen and did last week.

A timely reminder that all fencers MUST wear the correct kit AT ALL TIMES when sparring using electric weapons, whether they are plugged in or not (eg when having a lesson)

British Fencing regulations on kit & clothing is available >>HERE<<

PLEASE NOTE: It is each fencer’s responsibility to ensure their weapons and kit meet the required standard and are in good condition.

If you are in any doubt about what kit you should be wearing, please check with a member of the committee.  The club reserves the right to stop people fencing if they are not using the correct kit.

See you on the piste….. en garde!!!  SAFC
