THURSDAY 11TH NOV: A REMINDER
We’re in the small gym this week (and next week, too) which means a couple of important things to note:
We’re limited to 18 fencers across 3 pistes. There’s no Beginners Course this week (or next week) and no coaching available, just free sparring. Please specify a weapon choice when booking and we’ll try to group fencers accordingly, as best we can.

COMPETITION NEWS
SAFC went to Hitchin last night for a friendly foil & épée match – the club’s first match since Covid landed!
A great evening’s fencing with 27 bouts in total; the foil was a dead heat so it was left to the épée to decide the match.
SAFC took that 7-2 giving a final match score of HITCHIN 11 – 16 SAFC.
Huge thanks to Hitchin FC for a most enjoyable match and we look forward to hosting the return leg on 25th Nov.

UPCOMING MATCHES:
SAFC’s SABRE team were due to visit Dacorum this Friday for a match; unfortunately due to illness it looks like this has been cancelled. Hopefully it will be rearranged soon, watch this space.

Our fencing friends at LUTON SWORD CLUB are holding an invitational SABRE competition on Tues. 23rd Nov. from 1930-22.00. There is a small charge of £5/pp; if you would like to enter, please get in touch and we can put you in contact with LSC. At the time of going to press, there were only 3 places available.
SAFC XMAS DINNER – FRIDAY.10TH DECEMBER
The club Christmas Dinner is being held on Friday 10th December at the King Harry Pub, just down the road from where we train.
Fencers, beginners, Coaches & partners are welcome, but we are limited to 25 places. We are already 2/3 full, so book now to avoid disappointment! Bookings close Wed.23rd Nov.

The club has a Whatsapp chat group which is a great source of latest news, info & updates, and general banter.

***COVID UPDATE***
In light of the recent increase in COVID cases in Herts. it is recommended that fencers wear face coverings between bouts and maintain social distance at all times when not on the piste. And remember, if you or a member of your household tests positive for COVID, you MUST NOT attend training within the NHS recommended quarantine time.
