REMINDER: 10.03 & 17.03 SMALL GYM ONLY
This week (and next week too) we don’t have the usual main hall.
Instead we have the small gym opposite which means no beginners course (sorry) and no coaching, as we are limited to 3 pistes and max. 24 fencers.
There will be no group warm-up and we’ll leave you to organise yourselves.
Please remember to sign in as usual & coaches are welcome to fence!
SAFC v WATFORD SABRE MATCH
Last week we hosted Watford for a sabre match
Unfortunately, they took us to the cleaners… although we did win one bout. More importantly, it was great fun and we learned a lot…. like not using foam swords next time 🤣
3 COUNTIES LEAGUE MATCHES
This week we have an away match at Dacorum. Good luck to Richard R and team!! We are due to host Watford on 24.03
NEW CLUB FEES FROM 01.04.22
As reported at the Club AGM and last week, unfortunately it is necessary for fees to increase slightly.
We’ve held off on this for as long as possible, and we still think they represent excellent value.
New fee rates as follows; the good news is they don’t take effect until 01 April
Please remember to amend your standing orders accordingly; there will be another reminder nearer the time.

EASTERN REGION & HFA EVENTS
SAFC is affiliated to Herts Fencing Association and Eastern Region – here’s a round up of some upcoming events:
Fencing Fundamentals day – Sunday March 20th 2022
Hitchin Girls School – Highbury Road, Hitchin SG4 9RS – 11am start
Further to our previous mailer we are kicking off 2022 with a Fencing Fundamentals day to get us all back together with an afternoon of activities to include refereeing advice, armoury basics and information on how to be prepared for competitions as well as a chance to get on the piste against fencers from other clubs in some friendly bouts.
Whilst this session is primarily aimed at recent beginner’s course attendees and novice fencers in general, all are welcome to get back to fencing within the Herts Fencing community.

Eastern Region Senior Championships 2022 & GB Cup Qualifier – Sunday 27th March 2022
Stevenage Arts & Leisure Centre, Lytton Way, Stevenage SG1 1LZ
Herts Junior & Senior County Championships 2022 – Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th April 2022
Hitchin Girls School – Highbury Road, Hitchin SG4 9RS
The tournament will take place over the weekend of 23rd & 24th April with the Junior championships planned for the Saturday followed by the Senior tournament on the Sunday.
Start times and entry details will be released shortly but due to venue availability start times are likely to be from Midday with final rounds in the early evening.
