21.04.22 – Monday Night Fencing (!), HFA Comp, Watford @ Home

Another week and we’re back to fencing this evening (8pm-10pm) – a few updates:

The Herts County Championship is this weekend and it isn’t too late to register (although it almost is!). The Hertfordshire Fencing Association is sponsoring the Herts County Championships for the first time in two years. It will be taking place over Saturday 23 April and Sunday 24 April. The HFACC will be in Hitchin, entry is £25, and there are categories for every weapon and age group, including novices (new to Fencing since 2019). This is a great opportunity to dip your proverbial toes in the world of competition or to rebuild those competition chops after a few years away. More information and entries can be found on the HFACC AllEntries page. – Sign up now – closing date to sign up is tomorrow, Friday 22 April.

In addition, we’re fencing at home tonight against Watford Fencing Club (rescheduled after last month’s power cut). We’ll have Foil and Épée and if you’d like to have a go, speak with Captain Richard R. this evening. Good luck to team SAFC!

Lastly, we all know Mondays can be rough – but they’re about to get a lot better, thanks to another night of fencing! After positive feedback from the club, the Committee is exploring adding a Monday night session (in addition to Thursday) and is currently sorting out when we can begin this trial with the school and the hall’s availability. We’re hoping to confirm a start date very soon, so watch this space!
