15.06.22: Luton Match Result, 4 Piste Trial this week, Socks & SAFC Branded Merch

THIS THURSDAY – 4 PISTE TRIAL

We’ve listened to your feedback and due to popular demand we’re trialing FOUR pistes in the small gym this Thursday.

Instead of 3 pistes running the length of the gym, we’ll run 4 pistes across it.  It means shorter pistes but increases capacity from 18 to 24 – and we’ve already exceeded 18 fencers signed in for this week!

We’ll run 2x foil and 2x épée pistes.  Pistes will be shorter and it will be a bit busier in there so we’ll need your cooperation in keeping clear of the pistes when not fencing and keeping the floor clear of bags & fencing kit.

Next Thursday (23.06) we’re back in the main hall just for one night only, followed by another couple of weeks in the small gym, before we revert to normal (phew!).  Depending on how this week’s trial goes, we may run 4 pistes again.

3C AWAY MATCH @ LUTON

Last night Team SAFC travelled to Luton Swords for a rescheduled 3 Counties League match

Team SAFC from L to R: JD, Richard R (c), Kevanne, Gemma, Bryant, Richard B

Our épée team of Richard B, Kevanne & Cap’n Richard R did well against tough opposition, taking the win 6-3

The foil team of JD, Gemma and Bryant went one better, taking that 7-2.

A great team performance overall and the win in both weapons & overall was just what was needed as the League heads into its summer break.  Our next match scheduled match is not until October.

As it stands, Hitchin lead the championship, Bedford are second, and we are one of three teams vying for 3rd place.  But Hitchin were beaten by Bedford last night… so it’s all still to play for!!!  >Full league results<
