29.12.22: Final SAFC news from 2022..

A  CHAIRMAN’S FESTIVE MESSAGE

The club’s closed until January (see below) so in the meantime please enjoy this seasonal  message from SAFC Chairman, J D Evans:

After the “new normal” of the last couple of years, 2022 has felt like we’ve finally been properly getting back to normal at SAFC.

The hall has been decked with almost more fencers than we have room for a couple of times, which is one of the best problems we could possibly hope for.

Our fencers have put in some very respectable performances at competitions, including the Commonwealth Vets, and it’s been great to see those who’ve been through our recent beginners courses start to present more seasoned fencers with some real challenges on the piste.

As ever, a big thank you is due to our coaches and the committee, without whom there would be no SAFC.

I know some of our members have faced some pretty big challenges outside of the salle in the last year, so to see them still turning up and enjoying their fencing makes all the work worthwhile.

Best wishes for the festive season, and I hope you’re all looking forward to 2023 as much as I am.

GREAT FENCING BAKE OFF: THE FINAL RESULT

It was a close run thing with our Coaches taking the honours!

Coach Laura claimed the top spot with her blueberry sponge, with an honourable mention to Head Coach Tony for his fencing mask cake.

Thanks to all that contributed, we look forward to tasting next year’s entries!

FESTIVE FENCING

During the week between Christmas and New Year, some of our fencers got together to exchange parties and ripostes

That was yesterday, and there’s another session today.
