We run regular introductory courses, which require no previous experience and will give you a real taste for the sport.
Over 10 weeks, you will learn the basic techniques & tactics whilst developing physical fitness & improving mental agility.
On completing the course you will have built up enough technique to take on our regular members.
Many of our long standing fencers started with one of our beginners courses, and some of our recent begineers have been competing in, and winning medals at novice competitions.

It is a requirement of British Fencing insurance regulations that all participants must have British Fencing Membership. For beginners, this is free for 90 days through their Introduction Membership. St Albans Fencing Club will register all beginners with British Fencing 1 week before the course date. If you register less than a week before the course starts you’ll need to register for membership and insurance separately (we can help you). Aside from this initial enrolment, St Albans Fencing Club are not responsible for ensuring those training with the club have personal insurance.
Those who continue fencing after their free 90 day Introduction Membership expires will need to upgrade to British Fencing Starter Membership to ensure they have their own insurance.
