What’s the best day of the week?  Hands up if you know the answer?

Yes it’s THURSDAY of course because that’s fencing at SAFC (and Mondays too of course!)

And Tuesday was pretty good this week.  An intrepid team of three SAFC epeeists travelled to Luton Swords Club.

And they smashed it.  Epee first and the trio of Batchelor, Bryant & Roseblade (c) gave no quarter, dispatching Luton 8-1.

Foil was a bit trickier, having to contend with wibbly blades, all that off target stuff and priority nonsense.  But for epeeists they did pretty well, taking that 6-3 so giving a comprehensive overall match win:  LUTON 4 – 14 SAFC

Proof, if it were needed, that epee is indeed better than foil.  Ha!

Their only failure was not to get a photo.  Well you can’t have everything, can you?!

Well done to the team and also thanks to Luton for their usual warm welcome and camaraderie.

NEXT MATCHES:

We are due to host MK next Thursday, 27.04

We’re away at Hitchin on Tuesday 02.05  NB: we’re also hoping to run a beginners / novices competition alongside that night – if you’re interested in fencing please let us know!

GO LISA & LINDSAY!!!!!!

Lisa is ranked 9th for Sunday’s third and final qualifying round of GBR selection for the World Championships in USA in October.  Good luck Lisa, we’re all rooting for you.

Lisa (WF Cat.2)

Good luck also to epeeist Lindsay who’s also competing at the BVF Nationals in Manchester.

See you on the piste later… en garde! SAFC
