On Tuesday, three of SAFC’s fencers travelled to Beford for a league match.
We were heavily outnumbered with our trio having to double up and fence both foil and épée.
Foil first, and SAFC took the win 6-3. Bedford rallied with a strong showing in the épée, taking an early lead. But SAFC pulled it back to 4-4. It was close, very close but Bedford won the final bout taking the épée 5-4.
But the foil score meant an overall WIN for SAFC!!!! (Bedford 10-8 SAFC)
Thanks to Bedford for being superb hosts, very welcoming and competitive, it was a great match.
Our next league fixture is the rescheduled away match at Luton – date in June TBC.
IMPORTANT: PLEASE NOTE
Unfortunately, the main hall is going to be closed to us for a while. But all is not lost….!
We now have Monday night sessions (20.15 to 22.00) in addition to our normal Thursdays.
- Up to and including 07 July, all fencing will be in the small gym instead.
So that means max. 18 fencers / 3 pistes: no group warm-up, coaching or lessons – just sparring.
- On 02 June the school is completely closed (for the Queen’s Jubilee) so NO FENCING
As a result of the above, please note the following:
Effectively immediately, up to and including 07 July: monthly/quarterly paying members can fence either Mon. or Thurs. or BOTH nights each week, at no extra cost. Nightly paying members £12 per visit.
- Due to to the temporary limit on numbers, please DO NOT book a place unless you are certain you will attend.
- If you have booked a session and now can’t attend, PLEASE free up the space for someone else by going HERE.
From 14 July onwards (when we have access to the main hall again): we will revert to monthly/quarterly fees covering just Thursdays, with Mondays being an additional £6. Nightly paying members £12 per visit.
