Well it’s another exciting week at SAFC! Several of our fencers made an appearance at the 2022 Commonwealth Fencing Championships held in London this week! Congrats to all of them – Will, Richard, Jeremy, Giles, Lisa, and others – check out a few of the photos from the pistes below and the full results on the competition’s website.
In addition to all the great fencing that’s been going on at the Commonwealths, it’s also Épée night tonight (Hurrah!). That means that Coach Lajos is going to be joining us and taking the warm-up as well as offering lessons.
Lastly, you may have missed it in the midst of all the exciting action this week, but information is now coming out for the SAFC 2022 Open Air on 18 September. It will be held on 18th Sept at our usual training venue, Marlborough Academy, St Albans AL1 2QA. Weather permitting, all fencing will be outdoors on the tennis courts. Fence one, two, or all three weapons! (Discounts available for multiple weapons.) As ever, it includes a full day of fencing, and both a buffet lunch and a post fencing BBQ for all participants. Spectator’s buffet and BBQ tickets available separately.Refreshments (still and alcoholic) will be available throughout the day and veggie options will be available.
