THURS. 09/03 – PLEASE NOTE:
We’re in the small gym this Thursday (and next Thursday too, 16/03) due to a school event in the main hall.
Unfortunately, this means no beginners course, no coaching, and no group warm-up.
We’re limiting numbers to 24 fencers and we’ll run 4 short pistes, so would appreciate your help by keeping bags to either end of the gym and being extra conscious of those around you, both on and off the piste.
We expect the school to be open tomorrow night as usual but we are checking with them in light of the snow today/forecast tomorrow. Watch this space and the club whatsapp chat group for further news…
3 COUNTIES MATCH REPORT
Last Thursday we hosted Bedford for our first 3C League match of 2023.
Ultimately, Bedford were just too strong in both weapons. They took a comprehensive win in the Foil 8-1, but the Epee was closer, with SAFC just losing out 5-4, with some very close matches.
Thanks to Lisa, Terry and Daniel (Foil) and Lindsay, John and Iakov (Epee) for their efforts. It was Iakov’s first appearance for SAFC, and hopefully not the last.
NEXT MATCH: We were due to visit Dacorum on 16.03 but sadly Dacorum have postponed; new match date to follow soon.

Huge congratulations to Lindsay for a superb 1st place in the BVF Age Groups (WE Cat.1) Epee, held at Leon Paul last weekend.
