11.05.23: Gym not sports hall, competitions, and car parking

It’s a busy couple of weeks at SAFC. So busy we didn’t have time to get the news out last week!

We are in the main sports hall this ween but the samll gym for the next two weeks. Space is a littleĀ  tighter, so please remember to book early to avoid disappointment.

We’ve had two matches in the 3 Counties championship:
First saw victories of 7-2 (foil) and 5-4 (epee) at home against Milton Keynes.
Second, our fencers were up against Hitchin and were expecting stiff opposition. Hitchin won the epee 5-4 and 9-0 for the foil, though those scores don’t reflect some close bouts.
Our novices also visited Hitchin on the same evening and put in a very respectable performance in a team relay, with the final score 45-25.

And if that wasn’t enough competition, Daniel was fencing at the BYC Championship in Sheffield. Drawn in a very tough pool, with two GB squad members, he won 15-9 in his first DE, and lost the second against the #7 seed.
Well done to all our fencers!

Our next match is away to Bedford on Tues 16 May, so if you’re interest3d in taking part, contact Richard R.

Finally, we’ve been asked by the school to remind fencers not to use the overflow car park (nearer the tennis courts) as this is for contractors only.
