Happy Thursday, Fencers
Please note we’re in the small gym tonight. due to a school event in the main sports hall.
That means a limit on numbers (24) on so please SIGN IN early to avoid disappointment.
It also means no club-lead warm up or coaching, so please either come warmed up or be prepared to do your own.
We’ll be running 4x short pistes and to maximise the space please keep kit bags to either end of the hall.
It is a bit of a squeeze in there so your cooperation is appreciated. But hey it’s better than no fencing, right?!
We’re back in the main sports hall next Thursday (22.02) and then small gym again the following week.
CLUB AGM 2024
The Club held its AGM on 07.02.24 which was well attended – thanks to all that came for your time and input. Some key points that came out of it were:
- MONDAY NIGHTS going from strength to strength and we’re regularly seeing double figures and all 3 weapons being fenced. Monday nights to remain FREE to Members (those paying fees monthly/quarterly) or £5 otherwise.
- ATTENDANCE continues to remain at an all time high with 20+ fencers regularly on a Thursday. Nice to see some of our recent Beginners really getting stuck in and becoming club members.
- FEES to remain unchanged at the current time; we’ll review this again later in the year once we know if the school hire charges are increasing
- THANK YOU to all those on the Committee that give up their time to help run the club; everyone will continue in their current roles aside from the following:
- GEMMA has stood down as Club Secretary and we thank her for all her work over the last few years
- We welcome DOM who has stepped up to replace her as Club.Sec.
- JD is taking a temporaty sabbatical from Chairperson and BRYANT elected to Deputy Chair in the meantime.
NEXT BEGINNERS COURSE: STARTS 07 MARCH
Our next course starts on Thurs. 07 March and we still have a few places remaining.
